Yoga and Riptides ~ Mindful Inspiration by Colleen Saidman

by Suzie O’Connor (Yoga NRG Teacher who is currently completing her Private Mentoring Program toward 300/500 hour Yoga NRG Teacher Training with Tammy Williams ) : incorporated what I do to deal with life: Softening and grounding myself in childs pose to find my breath and discover ease; igniting my core in planks to find my inner confidence; firming my foundations in warrior to find my courage and strength; adjusting my attitude and getting a new perspective in wide-legged forward fold; learning to stand on my own feet and finding balancing in tree; sharpening my focus in eagle and opening my heart and embracing my vulnerability in camel.

Yoga has a way of unravelling the knots and connecting the dots. It is a like a nourishing balm for my mind and body. Savasana is my time to let my body and mind absorb what it needs the most. I shared a piece from Colleen Saidman Yee’s book “yoga for life” which really explains how yoga and mindfulness has helped me deal with life:

“Becoming rigid in a chaotic situation is like being caught in a riptide and struggling against it… if you fight it you will get exhausted and be swept away..Yoga is like a raft that keeps us afloat and teaches us how to observe and listen and allow ourselves to be carried away in the tide until we can safely break its hold”
